El exceso de grasa en esta parte del cuerpo -también llamada obesidad central o abdominal- aumenta el riesgo de sufrir enfermedades cardiovasculares. La dieta y el ejercicio físico son claves para reducir esa zona y adelgazar.
La grasa que se localiza en la parte del abdomen es más perjudicial, que cualquier otra, para el corazón. Pues un exceso de volumen o grasa en la barriga -también llamada obesidad central- aumenta el riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares. Por ello es muy importante disminuirla; fundamentalmente, con dieta y ejercicio.
«El riesgo de la obesidad depende de donde está localizada la grasa, y la que se acumula en el abdomen es la que, de mayor manera, afecta al corazón», afirma a laSexta.com el Dr. Fernando de la Guía, coordinador del grupo de trabajo de Cardiología del Deporte de la Sociedad Española de Cardiología (SEC).
Y esto es importante destacarlo porque los últimos datos de la Unión Europea reflejan que alrededor del 53% de la población mayor de 18 años tiene sobrepeso y alrededor del 20% obesidad. En España, y según datos de la SEEDO, el 53.8% de la población tiene exceso de peso: un 36,6% sobrepeso y un 17,2% obesidad.
