Sin duda alguna, el aguacate se está convirtiendo en un alimento de moda en todas las dietas cardiosaludables. Aquí os presento un estudio recientemente publicado, que nos indica que comer al menos 2 porciones de aguacate está relacionado con un menor riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV).
Se trata de un estudio de Harvard a largo plazo que incluyó a más de 110.000 personas (62% mujeres) entre 30-75 años, sin ECV ni cáncer cuando se comenzó el estudio. Evaluaron las dietas a través de cuestionarios al inicio y cada 4 años, preguntando la frecuencia con la que comían aguacate (1 porción = medio aguacate).
El seguimiento fue de 30 años, documentándose 9185 infartos de miocardio y 5290 accidentes cerebrovasculares, y en comparación con aquellos que nunca o rara vez lo consumían, se comprobó que los que comían al menos 2 porciones a la semana tenían un 16% menos de riesgo de ECV y un 21% menos de sufrir un evento coronario.
Se incide que la sustitución de la margarina, la mantequilla, el huevo, el yogur, el queso o las carnes procesadas por el aguacate también se asoció a un menor riesgo de ECV.
Los aguacates son ricos en ácido oleico (grasa monoinsaturada), fibra, ácido fólico (Vitamina B9), potasio, magnesio… es decir, un alimento muy recomendable para nuestra salud cardiovascular, y ya sabemos que con un consumo de aguacate (≥2 raciones/semana) vamos a tener un menor riesgo de ECV y coronaria.
